  There are many activities and things to do in the area including horse riding available in the village.

Eating out in the many restaurants, to name a few is the Cafe Galloise in Alaigne 3 kms away and Maison Gayda in Brugairolles, 5 mins away.  

And of course wine tasting at the numerous local domaines/vineyards.

Belveze du Razes, 5kms away, has banking facilities, pharmacy and supermarket for most your needs.  Limoux, 15 mins away, provides a larger selection of shops and town square.

The towns of Limoux and Mirapoix have markets on Fridays and Mondays respectively and are rich with local specialities.   There are also a number of other markets in the area.   Limoux is also renowned for its Blanquette and Cremant made locally. 

The town of Carcassonne and the walled medieval ‘La Cite’, a UNESCO World Heritage site steeped in history, is just 30 minutes away. 

 

You are not far from the Canal du Midi, another UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can walk, jog or cycle on the towpath beside the canal and it's always fun watching the boats through the locks.

       

Golf can be played in Carcassonne.   The 18 holes are challenging, each hole is unique, and have fantastic views of the Pyrenees along the way.   While another course, Golf de L'Ariege is some 85kms away.  

 

There are numerous chateaus (Rennes les Chateau) and Cathar ruins in the area.  Drive through the Maleperes and Corbieres to enjoy the stunning scenery. The foothills of the Pyrennees are dramatic with vineyards.

 

Lac de la Cavayere is not just for taking a stroll. It is also a health resort, an amusement park, a place where adults and children can have fun, a special place where you can relax within a stone's throw from Carcassonne. With its picnic areas, children's games, water sports, sandy beaches and grassy edges, fishing, and the ideal place for walking, this lake is a true haven of peace, freshness and delight.

Lac de MontbelLac Montbel, 30 mins away, offers perfect leisure for sunworshippers, families with children, aquanauts, anglers ... diving, sailing, surfing, canoeing (canoe station at the river Blau), cayak, swimming ... a complete variety of sports. The sunworshippers are are happy with 300 sunny days per year, children take rides with the pedal boats.  
 
The anglers like the variety of fishes (trout, luces, perch and sheat-fish).  Montbel is one of the areas allowing overnight carp fishing.  And the River Aude is a class 2 trout river.

 The Aude region has good links and easy access to safe, sandy beaches making it ideal for a family summer holiday, while its history, food, wine, landscape and sunny climate can be enjoyed throughout the year.


 Should you be visiting during July why not treat yourself to a concert within the wonderful setting of the walls of La Cite  Festival de la Cité de Carcassonne

 

Take a drive through the foothills of the pyrenees to visit Spain (2.5hrs) and/or Andorra (2hrs).
